Learn how to use the Asset API.
The Asset API provides two sets of functionalities:
- Asset search: Lets you or your users find and inspect existing assets.
- Asset building: Lets you or your users programmatically create LiveRamp assets from existing assets and rules. With this API, you can:
- Create a single asset.
- Create multiple assets in one request.
- Calculate the projected size of an asset definition before creating it.
- Define asset logic using either simple set-based rules or more complex logical expressions.
This API currently supports the following asset-building operations:
- Create segments or views with first-party, second-party, or third-party permissioned assets.
- Estimate the size of a segment or view before creation.
Activate your asset
Once you've built a segment or view asset with the Asset API, use the Activation API to distribute it to a destination platform:
- Segments: Confirm your new asset is ready for distribution and look up its segment ID.
- Configure Distributions: Connect your account or your customer's account to a destination platform.
- Distribute Data: Send the segment to the configured destination.
The Asset API and Activation API share the same authentication flow (see Getting Started above), so no separate access token is needed to move from building an asset to activating it.
