Overview of Distribution API

Use the Distribution API to distribute data for your application customers.

Distribution API Deprecation (4/22/22)

Effective March 2022, the Distribution API was deprecated but will continue to be supported until EOL (product end-of-life) in December 2022.

"Deprecated" means that the Distribution API will not be subject to further enhancement or development work. After product end-of-life in December 2022, the Distribution API will no longer work.

The Distribution API has been replaced by the Activation API, which includes all the features of the Distribution API plus exciting new capabilities including Delivery Status Management and Data Marketplace support.

This notice is to allow customers utilizing the Distribution API sufficient time to plan and update their code before the Distribution API is removed in December.

We know that change is hard and want to ensure that Distribution API customers have ample time to transition to our Activation API. Contact your Customer Success Manager for further information or review our Activation API Developer Guide for more details.

About the Distribution API

LiveRamp’s Distribution API enables your application customers to distribute PII-based and device-based segment data to popular marketing platforms entirely through your application UI. This allows you to leverage LiveRamp’s deterministic identity graph and partnership network of 500+ Ad Tech platforms, eliminating the time and resources required to build and maintain integrations.

Basic Workflow Overview

After your customer selects a consumer data segment in your application UI to distribute to a platform via LiveRamp, LiveRamp anonymizes the data, matches the anonymized data to the platform's devices, and then delivers the resulting devices to the platform.

Integration Level Options

You can set up the integration between your application and the Distribution API to provide basic-level capabilities, where a customer can only distribute one list/segment to one destination platform at a time. You can also choose to provide more advanced-level capabilities, where a customer has the ability to distribute multiple segments/lists to multiple destinations. See Integration Level Options for more information.

See Capabilities Available for a full list of available capabilities and their related API endpoints.

Getting Started

After you've explored this guide and our API documentation, contact your LiveRamp representative to go over the destination platforms you want to make available for your customers. Once all of the necessary agreements are in place, LiveRamp will provide you with your own API key and SFTP credentials so that you can start building the integration with the Distribution API.

Once you’ve built and tested the integration, each customer will need their own API key and SFTP credentials to use your application to distribute data via LiveRamp.
